I love nothing more than working with newborns and capturing those beautiful tiny details. I provide you images that will last a lifetime and remind parents of just how small their babies were and how quickly they change and grow.
Newborn photography is an investment and therefore you should choose your newborn photographer carefully. Ensure firstly, that your newborn photographer has lots of experience working with newborns and that they know how to safely pose and handle your baby during their session – after all, they are handling your new precious bundle of love and it is important that you feel confident that they are safe in the hands of a professional newborn photographer during their first photography session.
Below I have compiled some information about our newborn sessions.
What age is best to photograph my baby?
Newborns are ideally photographed around 14 days old, while they are still sleepy and able to be comfortably posed. Also during this time they are less likely to have developed any skin conditions (baby acne) and any wind or reflux issues, which can make them unsettled during their session. It sometimes happens that we photograph babies after this 14 day timeframe and if they are affected by any of the above mentioned conditions, we will pose them differently to make them comfortable for their session.
When should I book my newborn session?
Newborn sessions must be booked in advance to ensure availability, preferably while you are still pregnant. After your 12 week scan is usually the perfect time to book your newborn session. I do take a limited number of newborn bookings each month and they do tend to book out well in advance.
How do I go about securing a booking?
To secure a booking, I require a non-refundable deposit (the amount will depend on which package option you choose). Your deposit can be paid via bank transfer or Paypal. In addition to the session fee you will then choose the number of digital image files that you would like to purchase. This amount is payable at the session or up to 48 hours prior to the session. Additional digital image files can be purchased individually once you have viewed your online gallery. Facebook sneak peeks and images will not be available until sessions are paid in full.
Where are you located?
All newborn sessions take place in my dedicated and purpose built Studio in Sale, Gippsland.
How long does a newborn session take?
Newborn sessions normally take between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the package option you choose and how settled your baby is on the day of the session. You will receive additional session preparation information from me once your baby arrives.
Are props included in our session?
All bonnets, tiebacks, headbands, blankets and props used in my newborn sessions are carefully selected and made from the highest quality fabrics and materials and are safe for baby.
What is the turn around time for receiving my USB?
All digital post processing and fine retouching work is done by me, by hand; ensuring consistency and quality of your images. For this reason I do spend a little extra time during post processing getting your images print ready – but the wait is worth it! The turn around time is typically 6 weeks from your session date.
